About Andrea Szabo
I believe healing begins when we stop viewing ourselves as problems to solve and start approaching ourselves with curiosity, compassion, and understanding.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, life transitions, grief, and the many complexities that come with being human. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted exactly where they are.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent years working in helping professions supporting individuals through life's challenges and transitions. Those experiences, along with my own experiences as a mother, caregiver, and lifelong student of personal growth, continue to shape the way I show up in the therapy room today.
At The Performance Sanctuary, I integrate evidence-based and holistic approaches including Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, somatic interventions, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed care. Together, we work to better understand patterns, process difficult experiences, strengthen resilience, and cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and others.
I am particularly passionate about helping individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in cycles that no longer serve them. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, trauma, major life changes, or simply feeling lost in this season of life, therapy can provide a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My work is deeply influenced by a love of nature, authenticity, and the understanding that healing rarely happens through force. Like the juniper tree that inspired the name of my own practice, growth often occurs quietly, steadily, and in ways we don't immediately recognize.
I offer virtual and in-person counseling for adults throughout New York State.
